Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Aly Harte and I am an artist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  Art is the key to all that I do and everything around it is an extension of my creative voice. Communicating to you through written word, audio and social media allows me to get to know you better.

I am passionate about placing importance on everyday moments, objects and places in my oil paintings as well as in the writing I do for my blog which I named after my late Grandmother. She was the constant in my life after my Dad died the week before my eighth birthday.

My studio is in Belfast which is conducive to my family life with Michael my husband and our three young boys. We also have a dog called Mimi – my dog daughter!  Memories of growing up in a smallholding in the Irish countryside can be found in the paintings I produce as well as abstract depictions of cities visited. Portraits are a joy for me to capture and a gorgeous way to bring life to a canvas through colour. Every year I have two solo exhibitions and you can view their variety here.

I was awarded a first class honours degree and a distinction in my Masters in Fine art. All of this is lovely but as you will find on any literature I write about education or audio I record- a grade or the mark on a score sheet does not define you. In 2019 I was asked to speak as guest of honour at my High School- you can listen to that here.
