24 hours in Soho NYC- a guide

If you've been around my blog for more than 48 hours you will know that I love NYC (I even have art prints here and here you can buy of NYC). I talk about it a whole lot- sorry. It so happens that I have around 30 great friends who live there so my connection to the city itself is not based on tourism but more on community and a love for some of it's people. As a result of visiting there two or three times each year I get asked quite a bit about places to visit.I am not always sure how to respond as we do many of the same routes and eating when we visit various parts of the city- mainly downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Soho and Midtown.Often I visit NYC and spend so little money or I don't even darken the door of a clothes store. This is mainly because I really just love the vibe of the city and to see our crew of friends, all of whom I met because of Camp Treetops. This was a camp I worked at when I was 18 and re visited to work at last Summer with my boys (read here). So maybe don't view my rough guide as your first and foremost but all of the places I recommend here I have tried and loved and can make your visit so so fun!24 HOURS IN SOHO, Aly style

  1. Start the day with a morning run towards Hudson river park. It is so beautiful. Or hit up Soul Cycle in soho which you can book online.IMG_9034
  2. En route back to Soho stop at Vitaminchick Spring street for a smoothie- I added protein powder to my shake + also had the oats one morning during my last visit in July as I had been up from 4:45 with the baby!
  3. If you prefer coffee, head to coffee roasters Ground support on West Broadway or for ALL the tea and good eats there is Sanctuary T also on West Broadway.
  4. Shower and head back out to Dry bar at Bloomingdale's for a blow out. You can use their easy app for this.
  5. OR go fancy and book Ion hair studio on Wooster for the slickest hair cut of your life. Mine looked like this last new year.kitchne bar
  6. Conveniently in that same building is JJ lashes where you can get AMAZING subtle lashes and/or a mani and pedi. I treated myself when pregnant to the whole lot and felt incredible.
  7. Head East on Spring and find Dean + Deluca which is on Broadway and Prince. There you'll find all the tastiest meats, delicatessen foods, coffees, sushi and any other take out foods for lunch.
  8.  A short dander East on Prince and down Lafayette to Cleveland place where you can sit and eat your take out food.
  9. Alternatively skip Dean and Deluca and head to the famous Jack's wife Freda for brunch on Lafayette.
  10. Shopping is not my favourite but a few stores you should check out in the area include Sweaty betty boutique , Intermix, Alice + Olivia (Green between Prince and Spring st) for pretty dresses, Apple store,  Benefit cosmetics which is west Broadway and Prince, Lululemon, hit up the galleries on West Broadway for art viewing,  7 for all mankind (my fave jeans!) West broadway below Spring, Oliver Peoples on Spring and Broom.
  11. Mercer kitchen in the Mercer hotel for a pre dinner drink. I go for the fizz!  Alternatively The Dutch, Kenn's Broom street bar , Little Prince (which is very cute) or Mother's ruin.1480490_10152529707946074_1219854337146193673_n
  12. So for dinner you have a world of options but my faves are Chalkpoint kitchen ( the hair photo from two photos above was taken there) for market to table food with small plates, Blue ribbon for incredible sushi on Sullivan street, or skip across 6th avenue (technically outside of Soho) to organic health-conscious new American restaurant Ellary's greens.
  13. Post dinner drinks at one of my favourite rooftop bars, great to go as couple or with friends- The Jimmy rooftop at The James hotel on Thompson and Grand. It's so cool if you can catch the sunset. See pic of a sunset there below.
  14. And finally, if you want to shift your residence ( we stay with friends which is good as it saves money on accommodation) for a fun nights stay in a hotel if I was to try somewhere I always liked the look and sound of this spot, The Solita .
